Toro Mar began as a bullfighting school with a restaurant and spectacles and is found in Ses Salines Natural Park in Ibiza, very close to the airport. Some time ago the owners tried to transform the business into a nightclub, taking advantage of the height of the boom in the island's night leisure industry. They started to build a dome to house a hip new dance floor, but because it lacked a building license and was located on a protected area, the project was scrapped and the structure demolished. After some failed, nearly illegal, business attempts, numerous clandestine raves have reverberated Toro Mar’s walls; parties that could not be held under the dome have been celebrated below the flight of the birds that nest in the surrounding ponds.

The tour of the pieces that make up this project create a passage through that peculiar place on the border of being consumed by the saline countryside and turning into Ibiza´s latest beach club fad, which reflects the makeup of the island very well.

Toro Mar nació como una escuela taurina con restaurante y espectáculos, está situada en el Parque natural de las Salinas de Ibiza, muy cerca del aeropuerto. Hace algún tiempo, aprovechando el auge del ocio nocturno en la isla, intentaron transformar el negocio en discoteca y comenzaron la construcción de una cúpula con el propósito de albergar una flamante pista de baile, pero al carecer de licencia y estar en una zona protegida, el proyecto quedó paralizado y la estructura fue demolida. Tras varios intentos de negocio fallidos, al borde de la ilegalidad, numerosas raves clandestinas han retumbado en los muros del Toro Mar; las fiestas que no pudieron celebrarse bajo la cúpula se celebran bajo el vuelo de las aves que anidan en los estanques circundantes.

El recorrido por las piezas que componen el proyecto es un paseo por este peculiar lugar donde se superponen las distintas capas que forman el paisaje que rodea Toro Mar, un lugar a medio camino entre ser comido por la pradera salina, o convertirse en el nuevo beach club de Ibiza, que bien refleja la anatomía de la isla.
